Privacy policy
Last updated 18 October 2026
Draft, pending legal review. This page describes how Bimbiq is being built, but it is not yet a binding agreement.
Bimbiq makes personalised storybooks and worksheets where your child is the hero. That means we look after information about children, so we keep it to the minimum, use it only to make their books, and give you, the parent, control over all of it.
This policy explains what we collect, why, who helps us, and what you can do about it.
1. Parents own the account
Only adults can create a Bimbiq account. When you sign up you confirm you are the child's parent or guardian and over 18, and you accept our terms of use and this privacy policy. We record that consent with the date and the version of the documents you agreed to.
Children never have their own login or email address. They have a profile inside your account and use Kid Mode on your device, which you unlock and lock with your parent PIN.
2. What we collect
About you: your email address and how you sign in (email and password, or Google), your consent record, your plan and credit history, and your time zone so daily limits reset at your midnight. Payments are handled by our payment provider; we never see or store your full card number.
About each child: first name, age group (which sets their reading level), up to three favourite things, the hero you design for them, and the stories, worksheets and star ratings they make. Children under 9 can't type anything; they choose from pictures. Children aged 9 to 10 can add an optional one-line “story wish”.
About how you use Bimbiq: basic technical information such as device type and error reports, so we can keep the service working. Error reports never include children's names, ages, story text or pictures.
We do not ask for a child's surname, address, school, email or location.
3. No photos of your child
We never ask for, or accept, photos of your child. You design their hero with our avatar maker by choosing things like skin tone, hair, eyes and clothes.
The hero is saved as that list of choices, not as a picture of your child. You can change it at any time, and it is deleted along with your child's profile.
4. How we use information
- To write and illustrate stories and worksheets that fit each child's age.
- To check every page's words and pictures for safety before a child sees them, and to check story wishes before a story is written.
- To run your plan, credits and daily limits, and to send receipts.
- To send you service emails, such as “your story is ready” or a new sign-in alert. We send marketing emails only if you opt in, and every one has a link to stop them.
- To keep Bimbiq safe: a member of our team may look at pages our checks flag or that you report, only for that purpose.
5. AI services and partners
Stories and their safety checks are written with an AI service from a specialist provider. We send it only the age group, the theme and any favourite things you listed. We never send your child's name or their hero: the story is written with a placeholder, and we add the name when your child's book is shown. We only use AI plans whose terms do not allow the provider to train its models on anything we send, so nothing about your family is used to train anyone's AI.
No AI makes pictures of your child. Every picture is put together by Bimbiq from our own illustrations, with the hero you designed.
We also use providers for hosting, file storage, email and payments. They act on our instructions and may not use your information for their own purposes. A full list of these providers will be published here before launch.
We never show ads, to children or to adults, and we never sell your or your children's information.
6. Kid Mode and parent controls
Kid Mode is a locked space built for children. It has no ads, no tracking, no analytics, no third-party scripts, no links out of Bimbiq and no chat. Children never see prices.
For each child you can choose which story themes they see, and turn on “Ask me first” so stories they make wait for your approval.
Any product analytics we use to improve sign-up and parent screens run only on the parent side, never in Kid Mode.
7. Keeping it safe
- Pictures and PDFs are stored privately and opened only through short-lived links.
- Your PIN is stored in a scrambled (hashed) form, never as the digits themselves.
- Our system logs use reference numbers, never your child's name, age, story or pictures.
- Every request is checked so a parent can only reach their own family's data.
8. Your choices and rights
From the privacy centre in your account you can, at any time:
- see what we store for each child;
- download all of a child's books;
- delete a child's profile, or your whole account.
When you delete your account, we keep it for 30 days in case you change your mind, then permanently delete your children's profiles, heroes, stories and worksheets, and email you to confirm. Deleting a child's profile removes it, with their hero and stories, straight away; any copies in our backups are gone within 30 days. We keep a minimal record of your consent and payments where the law requires it.
Depending on where you live, you may have further rights under laws such as COPPA (United States), the GDPR (European Union and United Kingdom) and the DPDP Act (India), including the right to access, correct or delete information and to withdraw consent.
